I’ve always loved jam, but not the fact that it is SO high in sugar. The good news is that there is a loophole. By using chia seeds and fruit, you can make a delicious fresh-tasting jam in only 5 minutes, and with only 3 ingredients! The part like the best is that it is mostly fruit, not sugar. In other words, you can actually taste the fruit!
Chia seeds, which do, by the way, originate from the infamous Chia Pet, come in 3 colours: white, dark brown and black. They contain a powerhouse of nutrients. They’re packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and omega-3 fats. Chia seeds also contain a punch of protein and have a very high fiber content. Two tablespoons of chia seeds contain 10 grams of fiber (40% of your daily value!), and 20% daily value for calcium. Unlike flaxseeds, they don’t have to be ground in order for you to absorb the nutrients.
